Accessible Remodeling
Accessible remodeling projects are essential to staying in your home as you grow older. Everything from changing your tub or shower to installing a taller lavatory can make your bathroom easier to use and add-ins such as ramps, chair lifts, wheelchair elevators, roll under sinks and countertops, and lower cabinets and appliances make the rest of your home more enjoyable as you stay there longer.
While most people think of bathroom remodeling when they think of accessible remodeling, there are many other areas to take into consideration. How wide are your hallways and corners? Can you roll a wheelchair down the hall and not tear up your walls. How about your kitchen. If you were in a wheelchair could you use your sink? How about your range, oven, or microwave? The location of all of these appliances that we currently take for granted can become completely out of reach or even dangerous as we grow older.
Here at Jerry Harris Remodeling we can provide everything from making your bathroom more accessible to your kitchen, hallway, garage, and your entire house. Hallways can either be widened or you can add "bumpers" to your walls, particularly at the corners where they are most likely to be damaged. Other accessibility features include widing doorways, adding ramps to the front or rear entries, adding a chairlift to go up the stairs, lowering light switches and raising wall plugs, and adding wheelchair lifts in the garage.
