Make Your Home Uniquely Yours
There is no question that a lot of planning has to go into every bathroom or kitchen remodel. There is such an enormous variety of products for you to choose from that it creates an infinite amount of possibilities for your finished look. There are so many different results that I can safely say we have never had any two bathroom or any two kitchen remodels look exactly the same. It is the way it should be. Neighborhoods that were built from three, four or five model houses with similar features inside and out slowly mature as folks turn houses into homes and variety becomes the norm.
When you call us out to come help you remodel some interior part of your home, we know that what really counts is that we spend a lot of time listening to you so that we can physically create what you have as a vision. This does not mean that we will not offer advice on trends and let you know what other clients are doing, but we always keep in the front of our minds that this is inside your home and is unique to you. You should paint the walls with whatever color floats your boat. The same goes for flooring and fixtures and countertops and whatever else. These are all things that you will be enjoying each and every day. A lot of times we hear that you should be careful not to put in some color that a potential buyer of your home will not like or for that matter anything else that might turn someone else off. This is fine advice if you are fixing your home for the express purpose of selling it. But if that is not your immediate goal, forget about it and do what really makes you happy. Most of the time just driving back and forth to work is enough to stress us out, but add to that the other pressures of the day and we all really do need our homes to be our sanctuary. If you get ready to sell it you can neutralize it then.
Additions are a different story. I have had clients over the years that had made the absolute decision that they were going to be carried out of their house in a pine box so they did not care what their addition looked like on the exterior, especially if it was on the rear. They were just after the extra room inside. We are always willing to carry out whatever a client wishes but our advice on additions is “make it look like it has always been there”. From the curb the addition should enhance the appeal of the home with unique features that separate it from similar houses in the neighborhood but not look like it has grown a wart. Sometimes this is a simple task but often takes a lot of focused design work.
We start with figuring out what you want to use the space for because that dictates where the addition will go. Then we determine how much space you will need to accomplish your goal. After writing a list of all the variables, we have to check how your existing house is located on your lot and what city regulations we have to comply with. Once we have determined the lot space we have to work with we put the whole planning package together, build the addition and customize the interior just for you. You end up with (if it’s what you want) an addition that blends with your house and makes you want to come home.
Of course, like everything else we do, we have a process that we have refined over the past 25 years to help you from point A, the idea, to point B, the reality. So if you are thinking about adding on, or any other remodeling call us and we will come right on out to see you.
