Thank You
As we close out 2010, our team would like to wish you the very best holiday season and lots of luck for 2011. By the time you read this you are probably tired of the cold already and looking forward to spring.
We would also like to say a great big THANK YOU to all of you who were so gracious in allowing us to work on and in your homes this past year. Each year seems to have its own unique set of common projects that folks want done to their house. This year was no different. The most popular projects for 2010 were bathroom remodels, kitchen “dress ups”, and porches.
The bathrooms consisted primarily of makeovers within the existing space that included removal of floor and wall coverings and the installation of new tile floors, showers and fixtures. We also did a bunch of jobs where just the fiberglass tubs and showers were replaced with tile showers.
Kitchen dress ups surprised us this year. Normally a kitchen remodel consists of removing everything and going back with new. While we still did these complete jobs, we did more projects in which the existing cabinets remained. They ranged from just installing a tile backsplash to that plus new top, recessed lights, under counter lights and new flooring. This was typically done in homes that were built in the last ten years or so in which quality cabinets were installed or older homes with painted cabinets. We found that when you do not have to purchase new cabinets, you can invest a little more in the “dress up” and really get a kitchen with that pizzazz you are looking for.
Screen porches, open porches, sunrooms, porch enclosures. We did more of these this year than any previous year. We completed a project this year that has automatic screens which makes it a multipurpose porch. We also built screen porch/deck combinations. Another great outdoor project was a pool house that doubles as an exercise room. Our Quad Trac system converts an open porch into a three season room at a great price.
The popularity of these projects (as well as general fix up) seems to stem from two thought processes. The first is the realization that we all will probably be staying in our house longer so why not do the things to this house that we would be looking for in the next house. The second is that if we want to sell our home it needs to stand out from the rest of similar homes in the same price bracket no matter what that amount is. Both of these trends have gotten stronger the last half of the year.
I would like to say thank you one more time. This year you were nice enough to take some of your time to vote for us in the BEST OF… award contest. Because of you we won 44 BEST OF’s in six cities bringing our total since 1996 to 99 awards. And then you put the icing on the cake when you voted us Gold in six categories in ALL of Hampton Roads. They include Best Local Home Improvement Contractor, Best Kitchen and Bath, Best Decks, Best Siding, Best Gutters and the Silver Award for Best Windows. We are proud to have won these but even prouder of your votes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
